Job Description
We are seeking a skilled Battery Technician to join our team. The Battery Technician will be responsible for recycling various types of batteries used in industrial equipment.
Overview:
This role involves working as part of a team to process and refine lead from raw material into finished product.
Responsible for the daily operation of a particular part of the plant, working within one of the following departments: Smelter, Refinery, Battery breaker and/or Rolling Mill.
Smelter:
- Charging furnaces involves using computer to charge furnaces.
- Driving Front end loader vehicle to weight and load material into hopper
- General housekeeping sweeping and shovelling.
- Cleaning out afterburner chambers with di sab vacuum unit
- Molten lead movements using crane to transport it to refinery.
- Driving Forklift truck to move bins, weighing material etc.
Refinery:
- Driving Forklift truck to move bins, weighing material etc.
- General housekeeping sweeping and shovelling.
- Adding chemicals to process kettles.
- General crane work moving lead products, skips and process Equipment.
- Sampling lead products
Battery Breaker:
- Using Computer to run some of the process.
- General housekeeping sweeping and shovelling
- Adding chemicals to process
- General crane work moving products, skips and process Equipment.
- Driving Forklift truck to move bins, weighing material etc.
- Sampling process Materials
Rolling Mill:
- Operating, Production, Equipment, that involves, Setting, and first off inspection.
- Maintaining Quality and filling in production, work sheets.
- Controlling Process, that will require, observing machine operation, at all times.
- Driving Forklift truck to move bins, weighing material etc.
- General crane work moving products, and installing Mill, coils, and Slabs.
- General housekeeping, As required.

Shifts, hours and pay
4 on 4 off
2 days 06:30 tol 18:30 followed by 2 nights 18:30 – 06:30
£12.90 standard rate plus shift allowance £15.30
30 min break per shift – Paid
As you will be wearing full ppe and working with lead you will also be paid for shower time following your shift
